Linux is always recommended for someone who wish to revive his old PC. But some linux distribution such as Ubuntu is quite heavy. I remember using Ubuntu on my Pentium 3 machine where it was quite slow but still enjoyable. Maybe someone with Pentium 2 machine cannot use Ubuntu at full experience at all. Luckily, there is a lot of lightweight linux distribution alternatives. One of distro that grab my attention is WattOS.

Embun is a free operating system, based on the very popular Ubuntu Linux, with a Malaysian flavor. The distribution was created especially for Malaysian people that haven’t tried yet an open source operating system. Like Ubuntu, Embun is a Live CD that you can try without installing, but if you like it and you want to install it, there is an installation icon on the desktop.
So what does the name mean? Embun means ‘dew’, a moisture condensed upon the surfaces of cool bodies especially at night; something resembling dew in freshness, purity or power to refresh.

ONE of the features of Ubuntu 8.10 I overlooked in my recent review was the utility included for creating a bootable version of Intrepid Ibex on a USB Flash memory stick.
Personally I love the idea of having a whole operating system on a memory stick - it appeals to the geek in me and I love the look on a non-geek's face when you boot up their machine and your operating system comes up instead of theirs!

Novell telah pun melancarkan versi penuh OpenSUSE 11 selepas beberapa hari Mozilla Firefox 3 dilancarkan. Dengan OpenSUSE, anda boleh memilih samaada ingin menggunakan versi GNOME ataupun KDE. OpenSUSE GNOME menggunakan versi GNOME 2.22 untuk desktop, manakala OpenSUSE KDE menggunakan versi KDE 4.04 yang mana merupakan versi KDE yang stabil setakat ini.
